What is Sadaqatul Fitr?
Sadaqatul Fitr (Fitrana) is an obligatory charity given before the Eid ul-Fitr prayer. It purifies the fasting person from any indecent act or speech and provides food for the needy so they may also enjoy the day of Eid.
It is payable by every Muslim who possesses the Nisab amount, and must be paid on behalf of yourself and your dependents (including children). The amount is based on the price of a staple food commodity.
