What is Qurbani?

Qurbani (also known as Udhiyah or Zabiha) is the sacrifice of an animal during the days of Eid Al-Adha. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah (SWT).

Who must give Qurbani? Every sane Muslim who is not travelling and possesses wealth above the Nisab threshold must perform Qurbani. In the Hanafi school, it is wajib (obligatory).

When is Qurbani performed? Qurbani can be performed from the 10th to the 12th of Dhul Hijjah (the days of Eid Al-Adha). In 2026 / 1447 AH, this is expected to be 27–30 May.

Shares & animals. A small animal (sheep or goat) counts as 1 Qurbani share. A large animal (cow, bull or buffalo) counts as 7 shares — so a 1/7 share of a large animal equals 1 Qurbani.

Most Needy will cover Afghanistan. Deadlines for Qurbani donations are subject to quotas being filled, so please give early to secure your share.
