Support Syria’s orphan students
We're working with a trusted partner on the ground to give orphaned and vulnerable students at Brotherhood School the supplies they need to learn, and their families the food they need to get by.
Ongoing programmeWhy Al-Bab needs this now
Since the conflict began in 2011, Syria has faced one of the world's most complex humanitarian crises. Years of displacement, economic collapse and damage to schools and infrastructure have hit children hardest of all, and none more so than those who've lost a parent.
In Al-Bab, Aleppo, hundreds of orphaned and vulnerable students attend Brotherhood School, but their families often can't afford the basics: a proper school bag, notebooks, pens, even enough food to get through the month. When money's this tight, school is usually the first thing to go.
Working with our partner on the ground, we've costed a full response at £25,000, enough to fund a school kit for all 579 students and a month of food for all 450 families. You don't need to fund the whole thing: every £20 covers one student, and every £30 feeds one family.
What this programme aims to do
Keep students in school
Removing the cost of school supplies as a barrier, so orphaned children can attend and learn without interruption.
Ease the weight on families
Monthly food parcels take pressure off caregivers already stretched thin, so more of what they have can go toward their children's future.
Build resilience
Ongoing, consistent support, not a one-off gesture, helps children affected by conflict feel stable enough to focus on their wellbeing and education.
Strengthen the school's support system
Delivered through Brotherhood School's own staff, who will keep monitoring students' needs long after this programme ends.
Give hope to a student or family

About this programme
Delivered in partnership with a trusted local organisation working directly with Brotherhood School in Al-Bab, Aleppo, to make sure aid reaches orphaned and vulnerable students and their families.
This is an ongoing programme, with no fixed deadline or funding target. Every donation goes toward the next kit or parcel as soon as it's ready to distribute.
Families are selected according to financial need, and school kits and food parcels are distributed directly through the school and community channels, with progress monitored throughout.
